Fictional Characters Who Came Face to Face with their Double [Random Pop Culture Top…something] – Part Two

A little while ago I wrote about Fictional Twins (see here) and that got me thinking about all those other instances that were kind of like twins, but not really. And that’s led to this post, which is about all the different reasons that I can think of that characters in fiction run into apparent duplicates of themselves, and some of my favorite examples of each!

So the list here isn’t a countdown exactly–it’s in more of an intuitive order or each category, rather than a “worst to best” order of the specific examples. Each entry on the list is a reason why characters have exact doubles out there for them to run into (and there are a lot of reasons, it turns out), accompanied by a notable example for that reason.

To be clear, we’re not just talking about stories where doubles of characters exist, but specifically where characters come face to face with (it would seem)…themselves.

Stuff I’ve Read, Watched, Done – May 12, 2022

In the last two weeks, my wife and youngest daughter have been away seeing my oldest daughter as she has finished her missions training program.  Then they went onto another place to see my wife’s family, including her father who is hot well.  My middle (and arguably nerdiest) child has remained home with me, as she is in the midst of her Year 12 studies, which are pretty demanding and certainly require her consistent attention.

But this has opened up room for a whole lot of TV and movies.

Stuff I’ve Read, Watched, Done #20 – October 17, 2021

February 7 to October 17 – according to Google, that’s 252 days. That’s how many days since I wrote #19 in this series. So, let’s get started catching up…here are 252 things I’ve read, watched or done lately!

Just kidding. We’re not going to attempt to catch up, just cutting our losses and moving on, and looking back at the week that was.

Notable Numbers

So, around the same time as I embarked on my Fictional Initials project, I also started this, a post about Notable Numbers.  My goal was to find a Notable Number which had some personal bearing in my life or in my pop culture appreciation, which could also be understood by others.  I decided that my range limit to this would be from 1 to 10,000.

Stuff I’ve Read, Watched, Done #4 – Mar 15, 2020

It’s Week 4 of where I just talk about all the bits and pieces of the week which haven’t (and probably won’t) make it into their own articles. And since I haven’t posted anything on this blog since the last such post, it seems like that includes everything this week.  My intention is to do this every week as a form of logging and journaling, but we’ll see how that goes.

Fictional Initials (… so far)

The title is a bit misleading.  I’m not talking here about initials that only exist in fiction.  That doesn’t really make any sense.  Instead, I’m talking about initials of fictional characters.  That does made sense even though it may seem a bit of a random topic.

Anyway, it occurred to me sometimes (as such things do) to wonder if I could come up with a fictional character for every two letter initial combination that’s possible in English.  In other words, A.A., A.B., A.C., and so on.  That’s a total of 676 combinations, and thus 676 characters.

Favorite Fictional Heroes Countdown–Part 9 (#20-11)

And the countdown to my favorite fictional hero continues.  In today’s post, we have 10 characters who for the third time are all male, although three of them are not human beings.  Another two were born on earth, but mostly work in outer space.

Favorite Fictional Heroes Countdown–Part 8 (#30-21)

And the countdown to my favorite fictional hero continues.  In today’s post, we have 10 characters who again are all male, and include in their number four really smart young people, two galactic defenders, two military commanders, three fathers (one biologically, one through adoption, and one both), and one anthropormorphic animal.

49th Year Bucket List

So, point of clarification:  I’m 48 years old currently, having just celebrated my birthday yesterday.  I’m not 49, but that this year is actually my 49th year of living.  When I celebrate my 49th birthday, that means I’m completing my 49th year, not starting it.

And I know, it’s not really a “bucket list” if the deadline isn’t the end of your life…when you “kick the bucket”.  Indeed, maybe it’d be better to call this a “49th Year To-Do List”.  But that’s catchy sounding, don’t you think?

So this is a list of things I’m hoping to have achieved by the time that me being able to say “I’m 48 years old” is cold and buried in the ground.  What do I want to have achieved / completed / accomplished by then?  That’s what we’re looking at here. Continue reading 49th Year Bucket List
