My Mise en Scène is Tingling began it’s life as a conversation that the two stars–myself and Jason–had while we were location scouting for a project in Kyrgyzstan. We wrote the rough draft of the script at that time but it wasn’t until three years later when were working together again on a project in Indonesia that we actually moved it forward. A script rewrite was followed by some rehearsals, during which we decided which of us would play which character. Then we found some local woods and shot it. Then we decided we didn’t like most of the footage so we shot it again.
There are lots of in-jokes, not so much for those of us who made it in particular, but for any former film student who used to think they knew everything. That’s sort of who these guys are too.
