Mid-last year, I turned 50 years old! And to add to all the real life goals and challenges that that brings, I’ve created at least one as it relates to movies and this blog–watch a film I’ve never seen before which came out in each year of my life (thus the “Old-New” terminology), and then write a bit about it. This is Post #23. Spoilers ahead.
Over a few posts, I’m choosing different creators or creative teams–novelist, composer, scriptwriter, comic book artist, etc–who have influenced or inspired me, and in most cases brought me a lot of enjoyment.
For each year from 1919-2018, I’ll pick someone who produced something significant or recognizable from that year–based on what year it was published or released (with comic books being considered to have been released on the cover date, although I know that’s not usually true). And of course, lifetime accomplishments beyond that year will play a big role in who is chosen and who is not. Because certain years were tricky, I’ve also allowed myself to pick people who were born or even died in certain years.
A while ago, I was nominated by fellow blogger PJ over at Gallifreyan Ramblings for something called the Unique Blogger Award. So thank you PJ for thinking of me, and even listing me as a “fave”.
Of course, the Unique Blogger Award is really just a friendly way to link to someone else’s blog and try to provoke some fun or interesting thoughts. The idea is that I’m supposed to thank the blogger who nominated me and post link back to their blog (done!), answer their three questions, include a quote and a meme of my choice, and then tag 8-13 other bloggers and ask them three new questions.
