Recently I redeveloped my list of favorite films, coming up with the 101 movies I love the most (at least for the moment). I shared this via Youtube video here and via series of blogposts starting here. Take your pick, the choice is yours.
Now that’s all out there and official, I thought I’d take a quick look to see what we can see. No conclusions, but a bunch of observations.
Well, now we live in a world where Captain Marvel has come out…the first MCU movie headlined by a female superhero. For some people this is great big huge deal, and apparently for others, it is a sign that this is the end of days. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard. Maybe there really are people who believe it is a sign of the end of days, but I guess I don’t frequent the right websites because I’ve never read anything by any of them directly, only by those who are refuting them. (Spoilers ahead).
Glass is really a movie that I never expected I’d be watching. It’s the sequel to a film that I really liked–Unbreakable–which came out a 19 years earlier. That movie was the story of David Dunn, played by Bruce Willis, an apparently ordinary guy who discovered his destiny as a super-strong champion akin to a comic book superhero.
OK, just to be clear, I don’t hate Jurassic Park. It’s got the best dinosaurs we’d ever seen in a film up to that point (by a long shot) and it’s got a number of really gripping sequences (that terrifying opening, the T-Rex attacking the jeep, the velociraptors come out in full force).
