Doctor Who: Scherzo [Big Finish]

At the end of the big anniversary Doctor Who audio, Zagreus, the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) sacrificially allows himself to be exiled to a completely alien universe, doomed to die alone.  At the last minute, his companion Charley (India Fisher) refuses to be left behind, going with the Doctor because of her love for him.  Scherzo, by Robert Shearman (of Jubilee and Dalek fame), is the continuation of that story, and the beginning of a new “season” of Eighth Doctor audios.

Only in the last couple of these–1977 & 1978–have I started including notes about significant births and deaths of real-life people related to the series. That means there are fourteen years which I have covered in general, but not in this area.

Jubilee was the 40th entry in Big Finish’s “Main Range” or “Monthly Range” of Doctor Who audios (released back in 2003), featuring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Maggie Stables as audio-only companion Evelyn Smythe.

The Chimes of Midnight is the second audio drama from Big Finish Productions which formed part of a “season” of six stories featuring the 8th Doctor.  It stars Paul McGann as the Doctor and India Fisher as Charley, and is a huge step up from the previous installment, Invaders from Mars.  Spoilers ahead.
