So lately I made a Youtube video, for the first time (I’ve made films before, and put them on Youtube, but I never made a video specifically to just say stuff on Youtube) in which I share my 101 Films That I Love the Most. You can see the video and read all about it here.

In addition to making this video, I thought I’d also share it in writing—for easy reference in case you or I don’t feel like listening to me talk about this over 40 minutes of real time.

Fifty Years: Fifty Movies – part two

In four days, I will turn fifty.  Or maybe you could say, I will achieve fifty years old, finishing my 50th year.  To celebrate (at least, on this blog), we’re taking a look back and picking a film from each year of my life that I think is notable. My birthday is June 7, so each film came out in the year that began on that date, according to Wikipedia.

It’s time for another Weekly Geeky Question.  Each week my friend Rod asks me some geeky question that I have to answer.  We’re now up to Week #50, so we’ve been at this for a while.  This week’s question follows on from last week, where we talked about disappointing story payoffs.

47 Movie Blogs #43 – “Chick Flicks” That Guys Should Watch for Their Educational Value

So, right off the bat, I guess I should say that I don’t really believe in “chick flicks”.  I mean, I do, of course.  I understand the idea that some films are marketed more at a male audience and some are marketed more at a female audience.  And sometimes, for some people, that it is a really important difference.  “Chick flick” is a term generally reserved for movies that focus primarily on romantic or sentimental topics, and usually have a female lead character.

“A Few Good Men”

I bought a DVD of Rob Reiner’s film A Few Good Men some time ago on one of those “Hey, this is a good movie!” sort of impulses, but never watched it until the opportunity presented itself last week. I was looking for a film to watch with some workmates – one of them is a big Jack Nicholson fan, and yet had never caught this film.
