Doctor Who: The Diary of River Song volume 2 [Big Finish]

A little while ago, I wrote about some of the free samples that Big Finish was putting out in response to COVID-related lockdowns.  I ended up hearing bits and pieces of a whole bunch of their output.  As Christmas rolled around, I knew I wanted to spend some of my gift money getting the full story for at least one of those titles.  I chose The Diary of River Song, volume 2!

Doctor Who: Looking Back at 47 Days #41 – Best Catchphrase

A few years ago, I did a series of 47 daily posts which all looked at different questions related to the revival series of Doctor Who, focusing on stuff I like about the show. I worked out a series of questions in advance and then picked one randomly for each day. I’ve decided to revisit the series to see how my opinions may or may not have changed, and to bring two of my daughters into the discussion, since they are both big fans and have recently finished watching the revival series.

Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Tournament – Round Three

We are voting on  Tenth Doctor Doctor Who stories starring David Tennant, pitting them against each other in an elimination tournament, with whichever story gets at least two out of three votes from our judges will move on to the next round. The judges will be myself and two of my daughters–Johanna (15) and Laurelle (14).  The stories have been seeded according ratings on IMDb, and randomly broken up into two conferences–the Newman Conference and the Lambert Conference.

What I want from the rest of this year’s Doctor Who

As you may know if you are the type of person who might be drawn to read this site, Season 9 of Doctor Who is here and underway.  In fact, it’s already approximately 16.7% over.  Only ten episodes to go…or eleven, if you count the Christmas special.  So far, I’d say the series has gotten off to a good start, as you can read about here and here.

And of course I’m hoping it will continue to be good and fun.  That got me thinking about what I wanted to see for the rest of the series, so here’s my thoughts on that subject:  12 things that I want from the rest of this year’s Doctor Who (that’s one item for each of the remaining episodes, plus a bonus one).

Ten Great Time Travel Stories

I’d like to call this the 10 best time travel stories, but come on, can I really make such an identification?  How do I tell the difference between a great “time travel story” and a great story that just happens to include time travel?   Does every good episode of Doctor Who or the Legion of Super-Heroes count just because the Doctor gets to the adventure in the Tardis or Superboy by breaking the time barrier?  And what about all those time travel stories that I have never seen or read?  What, indeed, about all those time travel stories that I have read, but simply cannot remember?
