Doctor Who–Early Births & Deaths – Part 1

From time to time I’ve been writing up posts covering the activity of Doctor Who during particular calendar years. So far there are posts up for every year from 1963 to 1978.

Only in the last couple of these–1977 & 1978–have I started including notes about significant births and deaths of real-life people related to the series. That means there are fourteen years which I have covered in general, but not in this area.

Bernice Summerfield: Oh No It Isn’t! [Big Finish]

Big Finish is best known for producing licensed Doctor Who audio productions, but before they obtained that license, they got their start by producing and releasing this feature-length audio presentation, focusing not on the Doctor but on Bernice Summerfield, a character who had been created in Virgin’s New Adventures novel range.

The Time Meddler: My Eighth Doctors Wish-list

If I was an unscrupulous Time Lord with the ability to travel through the fourth dimension and to try to affect changes that I thought would make things better, there’s probably a bunch of stuff I’d do with my favorite TV series, Doctor Who.  Like many-a-fan (I assume), I’ve thought of these things from time to time, and I now I’m going to list them over a series of posts.

Doctor Who: Looking Back at 47 Days #40 – Multi-Part Stories

A few years ago, I did a series of 47 daily posts which all looked at different questions related to the revival series of Doctor Who, focusing on stuff I like about the show. I worked out a series of questions in advance and then picked one randomly for each day. I’ve decided to revisit the series to see how my opinions may or may not have changed, and to bring two of my daughters into the discussion, since they are both big fans and have recently finished watching the revival series.

100 Years, 100 Creators – Part 7

Over a few posts, I’m choosing different creators or creative teams–novelist, composer, scriptwriter, comic book artist, etc–who have influenced or inspired me, and in most cases brought me a lot of enjoyment.

Weekly Geeky Question #47: What do I think about Doctor Who?

Well, it’s Weekly Geeky Question time, and unfortunately the trials of Real Life, Work and So On have resulted in my friend Rod not being able to share a do-able question with me this week.  So to fill in, I’ll put forward my own, relatively simple one…but which will still result in a long-winded answer.

Doctor Who: Seasons of Fear [Big Finish]

Seasons of Fear is an interesting audio drama from Big Finish, a relatively early entry featuring the 8th Doctor as played by Paul McGann.  It comes third in a run of six dramas about the 8th Doctor, which all set up a massive confrontation with a new menace known as Zagreus.  This story is not actually about Zagreus but plants some of the big seeds that take us there.
