A couple of months ago, I turned 50 years old! And to add to all the real life goals and challenges that that brings, I’ve created at least one as it relates to movies and this blog–watch a film I’ve never seen before which cam out in each year of my life (thus the “Old-New” terminology), and then write a bit about it. This is Post #12. Spoilers ahead.Continue reading The Last Samurai [50 New-Old Movies for the 51st Year #12]
Recently, I actually went to the movies twice in the same day, to see different movies. The first and better of these movies was Toy Story 4. The second and worst was Godzilla: King of the Monsters, directed by Michael Dougherty…but even though it was worse, it’s the one that’s more on my mind.
I’ve never been a particular fan of Godzilla. In fact, until recently, I’d only seen two of his 35+ movies–Godzilla vs Megalon (in college) and Godzilla: Final Wars with my friend Rod. Well, there were scraps of others, including the Roland Emmerich-helmed nightmare from 1998. Anyway, none of them impressed me, although Final Wars had some ludicrous fun associated with it.
