Red Dwarf–the Doctor Who connections

Apropos of nothing, I’ve been looking from time to time at what connections to Doctor Who can be found in other popular TV shows. As I mentioned recently, there is a lot of obvious overlap between the fandoms of Doctor Who and that of Red Dwarf. At least, I assume as much given that they are both British and science fiction TV.

Yesterday I wrote about meeting a few actors (John Abineri, Mark Ryan, Jeremy Bulloch) from Robin of Sherwood at a convention, some of whom had also appeared on Doctor Who. It got me wondering about how many actors and main production team personnel the two series have in common.

I’ve mentioned a few times attending a convention in Chicago in 1993, called Visions. It was billed as celebrating the 30th anniversary of Doctor Who, the 15th anniversary of Blake’s 7, the 6.5th anniversary of Red Dwarf (really!) and the 10th anniversary of Robin of Sherwood.
