I have always liked cats, ever since I was a kid. I now own two dogs, which is a product of (who I am married to) x (where I live), but they are the only two dogs I have ever owned, while my family have had cats since I was a little kid. And the cat I own now is one of the coolest animals ever.
So to celebrate the cats in our life we are doing another Random Pop Culture list–the top twelve fictional cats that were played by real cats.

Today is the end of me being 47 years old. I’ve been writing all year in one way or the other about how 47 is my favorite number, and now we’re here at the end of the year and all I can wonder is, did I actually do justice to this iconic moment in my life? After all, I don’t get to go back and do it again.
Can I, indeed, think of 47 things I did or experienced this year that made the year notable or cool?
Let’s try! Continue reading Looking Back at Being 47
Today is my birthday! And more than that, it’s my 47th birthday. What does that mean? Well, it means I’m getting on a bit, I guess. And it means it’s only three years to 50. It means I’m closer to 80 than I am to when I was born. Goodness.
But as regular readers know, 47 is my favorite number. Even if I don’t think it’s really all that important, I’ve decided to celebrate it a bit, and one of the small ways is to write this post. Looking at the last year–June 7, 2016 until today–what have been some of the great things? Some of the things I’ve really enjoyed or appreciated or been grateful for? Warning: This post starts off pretty geeky, but ends up kind of religious. If that appeals to you, then by all means, read on.

I’ve added a new page to the site called “Family Clips” just because I wanted a place to add things that were more personal in nature. Some may end up literally just being clips but others might be more along the lines of short family films that are mostly of interest to people who know me.
The clip / film that inspired this thought is a little something called Johanna Cat Tyre featuring my second daughter and a cat that really, was absolutely fine during and after the events that are recorded here. It captures my daughter’s personality pretty perfectly. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
