I’ve recently done a trip across the world (and am still recovering from the jet lag), which means it’s time for another edition of Movies on a Plane, where I surf through Emirates @247 channels of television viewing to find the films that I’ve been curious to see, but which I didn’t want to pay for.  (I’m still waiting for GI Joe: Retaliation to show up on one of these trips.)

Fan theories!  We love ’em!  They take movies that we love (or not), that someone created and slaved over, and add whole other layers of meaning and depth to them that often the film maker’s never intended.  And sometimes…dare we say it…they make the movies better than the producers could ever have done on purpose.

Strange Sightings

Staying in hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand for a couple of days.  It’s near a new little open air mall, which inexplicably has a bit of a Maritime theme going on (for the uninformed, Chiang Mai is literally hundreds of kilometers from the ocean).  Walking around, one also cannot help but to notice various statues of figures from mythology – western and otherwise.  But just in case this isn’t random enough, my family and I rounded one corner and found ourselves looking at this:
