A Movie About Itself is a film that started production in 2014, but it had been conceived of many years before that. And then it took about 2 1/2 years to actually complete. That’s a long time for a relatively silly pseudo-documentary.
Really, it’s hard to justify the film as anything but a dramatic, scripted mockumentary, but the film itself argues as hard as it can for its own legitimacy. Anything else you need to know about the making of the film can be seen in the movie itself.
After all, that’s what it’s actually about.
