Production Notes: Like a lot of this series, the production schedule and storyline for this epsiode is influenced at least in part by the comings and goings of the actresses who have played the title character. Nadine had only recently taken the role when I found out that she was leaving Perth, and so both Episodes 8 & 9 were quickly written and recorded, more or less back-to-back.
Episode 9 ends a story arc that began way back in Episode 6, when the Fox originally took Hanna Jo prisoner. The story also marks a change in the ongoing status quo of the series, bringing Hanna Jo and her friends to a point where their lives will never be quite the same again.
Because this episode was such a “big deal”, I decided to make a bit of an event of it with an odd dream sequence toward the end. Bairbre’s appearance was recorded before she left Perth (back when I was doing Episode 6). I’d hoped to see Hannah and Nathan (married in real life) and record them in person, but that unfortunately did not work. In the end, I recorded them over Skype, which is why their audio recordings sound so different.
