In celebration of the Spoons of our life–ubiquitous but often unrecognized–Blue Towel Productions is proud to present the Daily Spoon, which we were are celebrating this September, the Month of the Spoon. #MonthoftheSpoon
Today’s spoon is part of the Mayfair & Jackson set that my wife and I got as a wedding present. But in this case, it’s one of these more circular spoons that one uses for soup. A “soup spoon”, as it were.
You can see that it’s pretty much of the same family as our much more common-used table spoon here.
Since I don’t actually consume much soup, I don’t tend to use the soup spoon all that much. Here’s a simulated picture of the spoon in action. You have to use your imagination to picture the soup itself.
Truth be told, I’m more interested in the bowl, which has pictures of Superman on it. But that will have to be for some other series of posts. I don’t even know if there is a “Month of the Bowl”.
Still, I appreciate the fact that the soup spoon is there, especially on days before we got our cutlery set from the Japanese side of our family (see here and here, for example), because then sometimes we’d run out and I’d use it for cereal and what not. And just today, I used a spoon like it (not sure if it was the same one) to serve dog food to my pets.
Here is a picture of me holding the spoon aloft, as if it were a symbol of my family’s just and fair rule upon a mighty throne.
