In celebration of the Spoons of our life–ubiquitous but often unrecognized–Blue Towel Productions is proud to present the Daily Spoon, which we were are celebrating this September, the Month of the Spoon. #MonthoftheSpoon
Today’s spoon showed up at dinner.
I live and work as part of a missionary community called Youth With A Mission in Perth, Australia. My family and I have our own home but we often have meals with the rest of the community (other staff, students, family members, etc) in a large shared dining room. When it’s someone’s birthday, we get a special table with a cake, and everyone sings a special happy birthday song.
So tonight we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday (even though it was a couple of weeks ago, she was away at the time). And my cutlery included this spoon.
Nothing special, just part of the hodge-podge of cutlery that our dining hall is full of. Stainless steel with this mark on the back.
I used my spoon to stir a small cup of instant coffee that I drank. I wasn’t really having cake because I’m basically off sugar at the moment.
But it looked nice, and so I had a small piece.
Thanks spoon, for helping me eat and drink and celebrate my daughter’s birthday!
