In celebration of the Spoons of our life–ubiquitous but often unrecognized–Blue Towel Productions is proud to present the Daily Spoon, which we were are celebrating this September, the Month of the Spoon. #MonthoftheSpoon
We start with this, one of my personal favorite spoons.
It’s a wooden mixing spoon, with a carrying capacity of about 20ml, which might seem quite ordinary at first, but has some hidden treasures.
It’s actually a bit shorter than most wooden kitchen spoons, but when you are someone like me who is more likely to be mixing up something in a small sauce pan and not a large deep pot, that’s only an advantage.
It’s also sturdy and unpretentious, with no special markings.
What makes it really special though is that it has a slightly curved handle which while not strictly speaking necessary, is visually pleasing and makes cooking up my spaghetti sauce way more enjoyable than it would be otherwise.
Sometimes I get scared we’ll lose this spoon, or it will wear out and we’ll have to throw it away. That always makes me feel a little worried.
But so far so good.
See you tomorrow for The Daily Spoon Day #2 here on Blue Towel Productions’ The Month of the Spoon.
I had a spoon like that once. Once. And then I used it to push things down in the blender. Down…down…dow…crunch. I once had a spoon like that.
So sad!
