Doctor Who Coming Soon To…

Have you heard about the Doctor Who World Tour?  It’s a promotion for the upcoming 8th season of the revival series, where incoming Doctor Peter Capaldi and incumbent companion Jenna Coleman are going tour the world, literally.  They are visiting seven different cities to talk up the show at some sort of unspecified fan events, accompanied, depending on availability, by showrunner Steven Moffat.

The event runs over about two weeks in August, and will take the celebrities to Sydney, Seoul, Rio de Janeiro, and…wait for it…New York!

Hey, Doctor Who is going to be in New York in August?

I am going to be in New York in August!

That’s right, I’m heading back to the states to see family and friends for the month, and who knows…maybe I’ll be able to catch a glimpse of my favorite TV show a bit before the new season debuts.  That’s assuming that the whole thing isn’t several hundred dollars out of my price range.  (That’s what happened when I heard about an event happening in Perth earlier this year, that was going to feature Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill.  It ended up getting cancelled when neither Smith nor Gillan could make it, but the special “Gold Class” tickets, which included front row seats, autographs, photographs, and the whole deal was something $900.  The cheapest tickets were maybe $180 or $200, and that was for seating in the back with no other particular access to the stars.)

Anyway, I’m keeping my eyes peeled for news.

In the meantime, I’m excited about the show starting up again on August 23rd, and to finding out how Peter Capaldi rates on my list of favorite Doctors.

Until then, here are a couple of the short teasers that have been released about the upcoming show…
